WASA-Dynamometers

Method of operation

With WASA-Dynamometers forces are measured and directly indicated. The appliances operate hydraulically. The medium of pressure is hydraulic oil. The piston stroke is 0.5 mm maximum.
The load plate i. e. the piston is similar to a wobble plate, and is adapts itself to the face of the piston transmitting the force.

The load plates of WASA-Dynamometers model B (with central boring), are however, cylindrically guided. By special manufacture, all other WASA-Dynamometers are available with cylindrical guiding.

Accuracy of measurement

The maximum inaccuracy of measurement amounts to ± 2 % of the final value of the scale. The optimum of accuracy lies about the middle of the scale. Diagramatically shown the inaccuracy is constant for all applied forces.

The tolerance is somewat reduced by dynamometers with micrometer indicators, and moreover a better accuracy of reading is thus provided.

Units of measurement

From January 1st, 1978 the Newton (N) became´the legal and solely admissible unit of force within the European Communities. lts value compared with the old force unit Kilopond (kp) is (rounded off tor simplicity):

1 kp 9,81 N or 1 N = 0,102kp

Standardized decimal multiples of the new unit N are allowed and - as dekanewton (daN = 10 N) and kilonewton (kn 1000N) - are used for scale division on WASA Dynamometers.

The Kilogramm (kg) is the legal unit of mass. Weight in kg is »magnitude of the kind of a mass«, i.g. magnitude of the quantity of a weighed material. Stated simplys

Weight = Result of weighing Mass.

WASA Dynaometers tor measuring mass indicate kilogrammes or tonnes (t = 1000 kg). WASA Dynamometers are still available with Imperial and American weight and force unit Pound (lb).

Type of Load

As cited above, with WASA-Dynamometers forces are measured. Far sudden impact blows or succession of impact blows, these appliances have limited suitability. If the frequency of force is not too great, rising and lowering of forces are measureable with WASA-Dynamometers.

As for the life of the appliances, it is better to choose a dynamometer with a higher range than the normal force which it is anticipated will be in general application.

Should all measuring ranges mentioned in this catalogue not be sufficent for the intended use, a lever transmission is possible.

For consideration

WASA-Dynamometers are sealed units. They are under vacuum hydraulically filled with special oil. For this reason, a guarantee tor perfect functioning can be granted only for completely mounted appliances.

This is especially important and to be observed with regard to dynamometers with prolongation of tubing. Tightened couplings must not be unscrewed. Perfect functioning is attained at ambient temperatures. between - 8° C and + 900° C.

Upon special request, WASA Dynamometers are available for use at lower temperatures.
